I went back on coffee a week ago.
I had been off for forty days, which seemed a suitably spiritual sort of number. Also, we had the road trip across Europe coming up, and Claudia made it pretty clear she didn't want to get in the car with me unless I was reasonably (and
consistently) alert.
-- I think I was almost there. The physical symptoms had disappeared, and the psychological ones were abating. A few more days and I would have been back to full capacity, I think.
But this was a proof-of-concept sort of thing anyhow. I have small children, and I live in the Balkans; going off coffee for good would probably be more trouble than it's worth.
For now, I'm back on one cup per day, in the morning.
I read somewhere that coffee gives you high blood presure and increases the heart rate. Glad im not hooked on coffee. After 40 days you missed a big chance to quit.

Don't try to make an excuse for your failure! Most of the times the addictions are just obsessions in our minds. To fight your own (obsessed) mind is the ultimate task in the world! Try it! You can do it!

I am not a coffee drinker and in general my caffeine intake is quite low (but then again there are several species of sloth that have more get-up-and-go than I do)
And I _was_ going to post something along the lines of “you can do it – you can beat this” or some such twaddle but upon reading the other comments well…
Go out and have a triplo espresso, on me- you’ve got a family to co-manage

Dear Doug:
Well, I for one, am startlingly impressed! This is fabulous...would yoy care to disclose how you suspended the apple...while outside. Best Wishes, Traveller
I would never consider 1 cup of coffee a day an addiction...or for that matter, ten cups a day. It's only coffee...that warm black stuff that helps fire up your day.
The curious question to me is why you felt it necessary to go off the Java?
Considering its considerable health benifits. See here from MSNBC today:

Oooooops!
That first sentence in the comment was in reference to the ongoing Canon DSLR Challenge, Faceless...which, when not working 20 hrs per day is where I lounge about.
