A recipe from Hostess's The Twinkie Cookbook: An inventive and unexpected recipe collection. More specifically, from Chapter Nine: Twinkies and Meat. You heard me.
Pigs in a Twinkie.
It's best if you say it like Samuel Jackson.
6 pork sausage links
Maple syrup, for serving
You all know were this is going, right?
Thinly slice one end off each Twinkie. Stuff a cooked sausage into each Twinkie. Place the Twinkies in a shallow baking dish and bake [at 350 F] for 10 minutes, or until the Twinkies are warm. Serve warm, with syrup.
This is also one of the most downright Freudian recipes I know. Seriously, it's up there with Rauschenberg's "stuff the goat through the rubber tire and display". Subtext? what subtext?
But sometimes, a sausage stuffed into a creme-filled Twinkie is I can't breathe. Hostess has to know, right? Just like the Saudis and those fish.
Thanks to La Loca for the gift!
